Accounts under pressure.
Email, social accounts, community admin roles and money accounts are what people try to take over. SMS codes and reused passwords are still the most common weak spots.
Practical OPSEC, taught live
We educate. You execute. Self Kept teaches individuals, households, creators and businesses to lock down their accounts, devices and public footprint, one plain-English step at a time. You make every change on your own devices, and we never hold, touch, request or type your secrets.
About ten minutes, right in your browser. It never asks for passwords or codes. Your answers stay on your device.
By video and screenshare. $230 an hour, the same rate for everyone.
Most people who come to us are not under attack by a government. They have accounts that matter, devices they share, and enough reading behind them to know something is not right.
Email, social accounts, community admin roles and money accounts are what people try to take over. SMS codes and reused passwords are still the most common weak spots.
If your name, face or business is public, old posts, tagged photos, bios and domain records surface at the worst time, and people search sites make a home address easy to find.
Free guides are good. Doing MFA, passkeys, a password vault, recovery codes and your devices in the right order is where most people stop.
A partner's phone, a kid's tablet, a shared login at work or the router the internet provider installed can undo careful work on your own accounts.
No one teaching you security should need your passwords, recovery codes or seed phrases. If a service asks for them, that is a reason to walk away.
What a session covers
You choose the topics. We take them in the right order, and you make each change on your own devices while we explain it.
Each session is live, by video and screenshare. Your answers to the free security checkup set the starting point, then we work through the rest in order, so each step makes the next one safer. Take notes as you go; they are yours.
This is the whole model, and it is not a slogan we bend when it gets inconvenient. If a step only works when we take the keyboard, it is out of scope.
Take the security checkup before your first session
Change the settings on your own devices
Type every password, master key, recovery code and seed phrase
Decide what to skip once you know what you are protecting
Keep your own notes
Explains each step in plain English, in the right order
Watches on screenshare and answers questions while you make the changes
Says no to work that needs a different kind of specialist
Never holds, touches, requests or types your secrets
Taught, not taken over.
How it works and what it costs
The rate
$230 an hour
Individuals, households, creators and businesses.
Up to three people per session or call.
Before any paid session, you work through a self-guided set of security questions on your own time: what you are protecting, which accounts matter most, what devices you use, who else has access, and what has worried you so far. It never asks for passwords, codes or seed phrases. Your answers become the starting point, so your first paid hour goes to the work, not to getting to know you.
$230 an hour, the same rate for individuals, households, creators and businesses. Up to three people per session or call.
Every session is live, by video and screenshare. You bring the accounts and devices. You make every change while we explain each step. Book one session or several. You decide what to cover and when to stop.
Businesses
Your business runs on accounts, devices and shared access. We teach the people who use them to lock them down. You make every change. We show you how.
15 or fewer people
Businesses with 15 or fewer people start the same way: the free security checkup, answered for the business, then sessions booked at $230 an hour.
Sixteen and up
For teams of sixteen and up, security work scales with how you operate, not just how many people you have. So the first step is a paid working session where we map your environment and give you a firm scope and price on the spot.
Retainer
Retainer. Priority access to Self Kept. If the month's work runs over, that is on us, not you.
| Team size | Retainer |
|---|---|
| 5 or fewer employees | $750 a month |
| 6 to 15 employees | $1,500 a month |
| 16 or more employees | Custom quote |
If your checkup answers show the work is outside what we do, we will tell you and point you somewhere better.
The key policy
There is a key cut into the p of our name. It is the only key we will ever hold.
We never hold, touch, request or type any of these. If a step needs a secret, you type it while we wait. We will not ask you to paste one into a message or into the security checkup, and if a secret would have to change hands, we stop the step.
Who it is for
Anyone who wants their accounts, devices and personal information in better order. No public profile needed.
Couples and families who share devices and want one standard everyone can follow.
Writers, video makers, coaches, course sellers, newsletter operators and community owners whose name and face are public, and whose accounts are the business.
Owners and teams who want the accounts, devices and shared access the business runs on to be set up properly, by the people who use them.
Who it is not for
Some situations deserve a specialist whose whole job is that work. We will not take the fee and stretch to fit.
"This is outside what Self Kept is built for. You deserve someone whose whole practice is this work, and we will help you find a starting point."
No. You make every change on your own devices. We explain each step, in order, and why it matters, and we watch on screenshare while you do it.
Never. We never hold, touch, request or type them, and the security checkup never asks for them. If anyone claiming to be from Self Kept asks, do not share them, and tell us.
A free, short set of plain questions you answer in your browser before any paid session: your accounts and devices, how you would get back in, who else has access, and what is public about you. It takes about ten minutes, never asks for passwords or codes, and your answers stay on your device. It means your first paid hour starts with the work. The full guided security interview happens in a paid session.
Often you can, and if that is the whole job we will say so. What you pay for is a guided session: someone who knows the right order of steps, fits them to what you are actually protecting, and answers the moment you get stuck, while you do the work on your own devices.
No. Everything is in plain English. If you can follow a recipe and stay on a video call, you can do this.
No. We help you cut the obvious risks and build habits that last. People search sites can relist you after you opt out.
We show you how opt-out requests work and walk through them with you. You send the requests, because they have to come from you. Some sites will relist you over time.
Not as your first call. That needs safety specialists or incident response, and we will point you toward them. Once things are stable, sessions can help you rebuild.
Yes. By video and screenshare.
The security checkup is free. After that, it is $230 an hour for everyone: individuals, households, creators and businesses. Book the time you need.
Yes. Businesses start with the free security checkup, then book by the hour at $230, the same rate as everyone else. We teach the people who run the business's accounts and devices, and they make the changes. We do not run your security for you.
For teams of sixteen and up, security work scales with how you operate, not just how many people you have. So the first step is a paid working session where we map your environment and give you a firm scope and price on the spot.
Up to three people per session or call.
No. We do not give legal advice or do investigation work.
Yes. Shield Desk is now Self Kept. A name that says the rule out loud: your keys, kept by you.
Answer the questions on your own time. Your answers shape your first paid session, and if Self Kept is not the right fit, we will say so and point you somewhere better.
